(Non)Traditional Christmas Post 5/6 : From the Book of Babes

I often try to sound smarter than I really am, to make deep connections to and with things that really don't have much depth, and to impress others which how much I've read or studied or know.

Then Eden, our six year old, works on this for two days and, in beautiful simplicity, shows a greater understanding of Christmas than my past five posts combined.

Kids these days.

"Christmas is about the star!" I love this. The Star, what lead the wisemen to Jesus, what gave them hope.  We just finished watching Lord of the Rings, and when I read this page, I heard Galadriel's voice, "In this phial is caught the light of Earendil's star . . . it will shine brighter when night is about you. May it be a light to you in dark places, when all other lights go out."

Indeed, Christmas is about the star.

"The cross is made from wood, like the Christmas tree!" she said.

I'll never look at a Christmas tree the same way again.

Judah had to help here. "Christmas mad is about the sin that God made perfect," but the heart is her's.  I love her interpretation of a sinful heart.

Mary and Joseph arriving in Bethlehem, where there is no room at the inn.  But there is a giant tree!

If I remember correctly, this was the page that she confidently yelled out from her drawing room, "Christmas is so easy to spell!"  Love it.  And goodness, I love this girl.

Merry Christmas!
