Good god I love this video.
* Before watching, know that there are a few upsetting scenes, but like many great pieces of art (Shawshank Redemption comes to mind), it's purposeful, not gratuitous.
There’s a lot going on in the video (here’s one thread by LK that explains some of the imagery).
The fact that Childish Gambino’s “This is America” tackles police brutality, gun violence, media misdirection, and the use of African Americans as a brand shield, all while dancing in Jim Crow-style caricature, shows a transcendence of mere performance and demands attention.
